Boyd McKew

Boyd McKew is an Eastern Academic Research Consortium Fellow in Synthetic Biology and a Lecturer in Environmental Microbiology at the University of Essex.

Dr McKew obtained a BSc in Marine Biology and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Essex and specialises in marine and freshwater molecular microbiology. He conducts research into microbial ecophysiology and community dynamics, Carbon and Nitrogen cycling, and marine crude oil/hydrocarbon degradation and bioremediation. He has numerous projects currently funded by Eastern ARC and The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). His work has been published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, Nature Geoscience, ISME, New Phytologist and Environmental Microbiology.
